Jessa + Alan were some of my first clients in 2016 when I first went completely solo and started Birch & Bloom Photo. They hired me to capture some pre-wedding portraits as well as their BEAUTIFUL barnyard wedding in Colorado Springs. We became fast friends as I got to know them, their families and their story. These two wanted nothing more than to be parents and couldn't wait to start the process as soon as the honeymoon started! Unfortunately, it would be 2 years until they were able to conceive with the help of fertility treatments.

Fast forward  to November of this year when Jessa called me to ask me to photograph her MATERNITY PHOTOS (!!!) as she is due with a boy in January. The holidays were fast approaching and she was already 8 months pregnant, but with these two asking, I couldn't help but scream YES! Within a couple weeks we worked out some dates and I booked my flights to good ol CO.

Jessa and Alan chose to have an in-home session- MY FIRST! I have to admit, I was a little nervous shooting at someone's home because you never know what kind of decor and lighting issues you might run into, but the Van der Woerd's home was absolutely gorgeous and perfectly decorated and I think the comfortability of being at home sets the mood for perfectly relaxed images.  I'm really excited at how these images turned out and would love to continue this trend!

It has been such a blessing to follow along with this couple as they began their journey as husband and wife and now as young parents. I'm very much looking forward to keeping up with their sweet family and capturing their biggest moments as they unfold. I couldn't be happier for this sweet couple to finally welcome their miracle babe next month and I can't wait to meet him! <3
